Ganglion

A ganglion is a fluid filled sac connected either to a tendon lining or a joint.

They can often be left well alone but sometimes surgery is indicated to remove them if they are painful or unsightly. Some can be treated using a keyhole arthroscopy technique.  Sometimes they can recur following surgical removal and there is also a scar at the site of surgery.
